Biography

Warrant Officer Lenton Mizer served our nation in the Vietnam War.  A helicopter pilot, he was killed in action (KIA) on 15 July 1970 at the age of 20 years.  He was shot down returning from an assigned mission to his South Vietnamese base.  Unit:  174th AHC, 14th Aviation Battalion, 16th Aviation Group, Americal Division, USARV.

He was awarded a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.

Lenton graduated from El Dorado High School with the Class of 1968.  He was active in sports—basketball and wrestling.  His special interests were horses and aviation.  He was a member of the El Dorado Saddle Club.  He and his horse "Big Red" traveled all over the state for horse shows.  

Lenton entered the Army Air Corps in April 1969.  He intended to take up aviation as a career when he completed his service.
