Biography

United States Marine Corps Corporal Guy Parsons served in the Pacific with the 10th Defense Battalion.  He was attached to the I Marine Amphibious Corps, Fleet Marine Force, specifically Task Force 61.  

In March, 1943, he was with the first echelon of the battalion that embarked for the Russell Islands.  

In April, 1943, while serving as a gunner on a 90 mm anti-aircraft gun, with the 10th Defense Battalion, was moved to Banika Island.  

In May, 1943 his gun battery was re-positioned to Renard Sound to protect a new airstrip.

Guy was the gunner in Dog Battery, Gun No. 2.

In January 1944, the Battalion proceeded to Eniwetok Atoll in the Marshall Islands to relieve the 22nd Marines and assume responsibility for the defense of Eniwetok Atoll.

The Battalion participated in the consolidation of the Southern Solomons from 24 February 1943 to 20 June 1943; the occupation of Eniwetok Atoll, 21 February to 2 March 1944, and the defense responsibilities of Parry/Eniwetok Islands from 25 February 1944 to 15 August 1944. 

August 1944—the Battalion returned to Kauai, Territory of Hawaii.
