Biography

Navy Electrician's Mate Homer Marshall served during World War II as an electrician on board an Landing Ship, Tank (LST).   The LST was the military designation for naval vessels created during the war to support amphibious operations by carrying significant quantities of vehicles, cargo, and landing troops directly onto an unimproved shore.

Marshall participated in the invasion of Japan and islands of the South Pacific.  His ship was hit by a Kamikaze attack and the LST was dead in the water for a period of time until Homer (the electrician's mate) made some repairs.

Homer was one of the 12 sons, grandsons, great grandsons, and sons-in-law (of Ira Thomas Marshall Sr. and his wife Bertha) who have served in World War II, Korea, the Gulf War, and Iraq
